[Squinting against the bone-numbing slanting rain]

"It's always a good idea to ride the cargo ebike."

Seriously. I blasted some tropicalismo and Os Mutantes on the speaker, wore rain gear, and loved literally every second of my errand run. I even bought another turkey because they are on sale.

I can't get over this wicked allocation of urban public space

Hello, darkness, my old friend...

I found this pot of jam in the back of the cupboard. I made it out of Niagara grapes that were growing on a fence. Niagara grapes do not ripen in our climate, but they make a terrific jelly!

This batch had not enough pectin; I overcooked it.

Still tangy and YUM!

Why, hello there, my spiny little friends...

So much so that I purposefully sat down to sketch a superb owl that @sheridesabike.bsky.social reposted this evening. Five minutes. Just. What??!? I feel kinda high? What is happening

5 minute sketch! I am starting to like this drawing stuff!

In a pile of sketches from the other day, when one of my kids challenged me to do a few drawings... I half-scribbled a unicorn before giving up.

This evening, we had a few little guests. One of them was doing water colors and painted it and made it look... like, really cool?!?

The China-fir, Chunninghamia (species lanceolata I think). While other China-firs in our town were damaged by drought and then severe cold a few winters in a row, this specimen grows on!

... and then prised/wriggled the calipers and pads open enough to be put into place with a plastic scraper doohickey that is actually part of a cell phone screen replacing tool kit (RIP). Whew.

Brakes work great now!

Great. NOW I realize I can't find where I put my new brake pads!!!

Judge Mark A. Fullerton started his service on the state Supreme Court in *1899* and ended his time on the court in 1931, btw.

In a bit of financial genius, the sale of the street railways from Stone and Webster for $15 million to the City of Seattle was financed by a bond that was also owed to Stone and Webster; by the terms of the sale, debt service was the first obligation of fare revenues.

One of my kids sat down to do a little drawing. I joined them for a bit this evening.

They started drawing dragons. They challenged me to draw a dragon, too! I have never drawn a dragon.

I was informed my dragon was too scary. I removed the fangs and added cocoa.

From my walk to the transportation safety conference - the same conference at which two (post?-)retirement-aged white dudes loudly complained about pedestrians wearing dark clothing. "Responsibility is SHARED," one of them brayed to a presemter.

Because my connecting bus is running 20 minutes late, we caught the tail end of the Talgo Amtrak @amtrakcascades.wsdot.wa.gov service heading south!
