Are they clearly distinguishable and are they harmful for the cat? If Yes & No - then I'd put them there, otherwise better set an alarm and store them somewhere else.

I wanted to make a case for the driver getting stuck there, but then remembered that this is a tram and not a fully loaded freight train with multi-mile braking distance. So yeah - probably ignored the warnings.
