Those both look amazing! 😀
I love gardening!
My favorite is the Southern Exposure Seed Exchange. Great heirloom veggies, but also their covers are always hand drawn and so cute.

In the 1800's Portuguese immigrants to Rio de Janeiro built the Portuguese Reading Room.

I don't think it's a coincidence it resembles a cathedral. Reading is a kind of worship. When you’re deep in a story, it lifts your spirit, carrying you off to someplace new. At least for a little while.

I love when authors’ lives spill into their work

The monsters in Where the Wild Things Are were inspired by Maurice Sendak’s aunts/uncles. Relatives who’d coo, “You’re so good, we could eat you up.” As a sickly child often confined to bed, he must’ve felt both loved & terrified during their visits⬇️

The last few years, my desk has been the glass table on our lanai. I haul everything out in the morning and bring it back in at night.

I like listening to the birds/water and watching the squirrels and lizards.

What do your writing spaces look like?

1,200 years ago, Fatima al-Fihri, a Muslim woman, founded the al-Qarawiyyin Library in Morocco—the oldest continually used library in the world

Some of the greatest poets and philosophers in Muslim history studied here. And, it was instrumental in leading Europe out of the Dark Ages

What a legacy!

The word MEANDER comes from Maiandros, the Greek name for a winding river in Turkey.

Over time this word has meant: confusion, to wander aimlessly, a winding passage.

I love it, b/c the river & the word make me think of a dotty old man's path as he wanders around the house looking for his keys.

We almost lost the Middle-English Poem Beowulf to fire!

Buried in the private Cotton library, the only copy of Beowulf was never truly studied.

Then in 1731, a fire destroyed Ashburnham House & most of the library. In a desperate attempt to save the codex a heroic librarian flung the smoking ⬇️

When I went to Kent State, the story was our black squirrels came from an experiment on campus gone wrong, leading to a few of the squirrels escaping only to interbreed with a local population and introduced black squirrels to the area.

Today, I found out that’s not true. ⬇️
