Motto: Wow. That really snuck up on me.
Better than anything I’ve ever attempted. Which is not at all.

Lovely stuff about who we choose to care about and letting go when you have to. And a quick fun little read (under 200 pages) if you’re looking for a quick treat for the end of the year.

Fav t-giving food is pumpkin pie. We’re making 2 this year so we can have pie for breakfast for a week.

I finished The Summer War by Naomi Novik. It surprised me! I expected the princess to end up with the king of the summer folk (elvish people) because Novik’s fairy tales usually have the heroine end up with the surly magic dude, but this one went a little differently!

The recipe I found has a little nutmeg in it and I was like wtf but then I just decided to go for it and followed the recipe almost to a T. And it was delicious! E even ate a little bit.

The food used to be much better. I was like, ok I’m paying too much for this sandwich but at least it’s consistently very good.

Nowadays? It’s garbage. But still expensive! Their sourdough has no flavor at all.

Dude I think about this all the time. Like even in a super conservative county like mine, it always is at least 30% dem, which doesn’t sound like much. But I look around at the others standing in line at the polls— for every 10 people I’m here with, at least 2-3 vote like me. It’s not nothing!

I’ve started The Summer War by Naomi Novik. I always adore her writing whether it’s YA, fairy tales, or Temeraire. This one is a fairy tale novella. Just getting started but I like it so far. A girl accidentally curses her brother when her sorceress power comes on just after he hurt her feelings.

The novel is set in the near future and an island that houses an important seed vault and is a wildlife refuge is being severely threatened by sea level rises. The nature descriptions are gorgeous. And it offers some “why we keep fighting” hope.
