"the revolution will be televised but in a way that creates a parasocial connection with revolution so that a lot of people get really invested in the idea of being revolutionaries without doing much to contribute to it"

I will always remember a burn John Rogers laid on Sarah Palin during her reality TV career, about an episode where she was 'roughing it' by camping in the woods.

"I know exactly how many steps off camera your makeup trailer is."

I mean, neither of you are wrong, right? We'd be safer with someone who is merely unqualified in that seat.

Nice picture, I like it. Did they make all four walls of the Secretary's office or just the ones we can see in this photo?

I mean I'll hear Burgess Meredith out just so Meredith can collect a check. Everyone's gotta make their cheddar.

Anyway, a U.S. client state is currently doing a genocide bloodier than the Gaza war right now, yet for some reason the perpetrators lack some characteristic which stirs quite the same outrage on Al Gore’s internet. Really makes you think.

At some point, I will get to one of Tom's rare video game posts early enough that I can ask him whether or not that thing we did to Caesar is perfidity and if so how concerned I should be about that.

Since you actually know what a war crime is as opposed to bad vibes, I gotta ask -

Is that thing we did to Caesar perfidity, and if so, how concerned should I be about the fact that I don't particularly care, given everything else going on with the Legion?

Well, why *not* campaign on the infrastructure projects in your district? Biden bribed your district with them because you were so intransigent and psychotic that he felt the need to convince your voters that he wasn't what you said he was. That's showing that your form of government works.

Look, buddy, this is weird for me too.

I really think personally that the fact that most executives judge arguments by how plausible they sound and convincing they are and that ChatGPT is really good at generating plausible, convincing arguments with little regard for accuracy - that's a Chekov's gun that's gonna go off sometime.
November 17, 2025 at 8:16 PM
How much of this do you think is the executives conflating the two kinds of AI themselves? Because what a generative text AI does is produce plausible-sounding arguments, not accurate ones... to the executive, what's the difference between a human bullshitting you and an AI doing it?
ChatGPT is a Test for the Graders, not the Students
The problem isn't ChatGPT's effect on the students. The problem is going to be ChatGPT's effect on the graders. And not just in colleges, but in real businesses that matter.

I used to buy Tillamook but the milk they use for their cheese is unpasteurized. Is this a concern worth having?

I cannot imagine what you and Will Stancil getting into an argument would look like. I'm pretty sure you'd still be getting into it in the mineshafts.

"Oh, and the guy who will go on to write James Bond came up with the idea."
November 16, 2025 at 3:57 AM
Motherfucker, we read your literature and it referred to drowning someone as an 'empathy ceremony'. That is, in fact, why we are making fun of you. Because we read it, and your ideas were terrible.
November 15, 2025 at 8:39 PM
Oh, sorry. I meant the fic, because I was wondering if it was one a friend of mine is writing. Gah.

I don’t suppose you can tell us what it is?
November 15, 2025 at 10:55 AM
But that’s not really capitalism qua capitalism. It’s a problem with having someone who can be a jerk in a position of authority over you. Replace the boss with a government bureaucrat and you have the same problem.
November 12, 2025 at 5:13 PM
I would argue that if you say that your boss has too much power over you they can make your life hell if they don’t like that you’re trans; I’ve been fired for cause a month after a 5% raise and a week after the evangelical Christian boss finds a card for laser hair removal in my cubicle.

But it's always happening, and you always know it. I always want the queer side to win, of course. But I don't pretend I don't use most of the same tools as the other side in a war neither side wants to acknowledge is happening.
November 11, 2025 at 7:26 PM
Both sides will pretend they're not doing it, because 'why do you want to bring politics into my completely apolitical decision to make orcs inherently murderable and elves inherently beautiful?' sounds like a decent argument to most bystanders, who don't really want to get into political fights.
