Oh, come on.
You don't really need all ten of your toes, right?

Mycobacteria are difficult, slow organisms. They hide everywhere and don't grow easily in the lab.

They also mimic other diseases, so before you realise you're dealing with TB...

The video seems...simplistic.

(Fun fact: a mycobacterium is responsible for leprosy too)

Even that is dodgy science.

When TB drugs were discovered, we didn't know how to use them in combination like we do now.

Look, these drugs are toxic and have to be given in a combination regime for a long time. As you can imagine, it takes research and trial/error to find the regimes.

'Welcome to Derry: Derry Girls' is the crossover event that we want and need.

Wow, this'll be a jurisdictional nightmare.

He'd also have to show material damage.

I dunno.
But it doesn't match my experience.

Second, I worked in a developing country for over a decade. The drugs were there.

TB isn't one of those things that you can eradicate like smallpox (which isn't even gone, btw).

There's enough local TB in developing countries for immunocompromised folks to get it from time to time.

I don't know how true that is.

First off, when you're immunocompromised, you can get TB off birds (m.avium) or cattle (m.bovis) and other animals. Humans aren't the only reservoir. Also, there are folks who get it without symptoms. You'll find it on x-ray incidentally.

Resistance is an important consideration when someone on treatment becomes psychotic.

Do you stop the TB treatment for the person to recover (bad for resistance)?
Do you continue the TB treatment and treat the psychosis until the TB regime is done (bearing in mind that we're talking 6-8 months)?

You have to either show your scar or be tested to work in a hospital.
November 10, 2025 at 3:02 PM
Yup.
November 10, 2025 at 2:43 PM
Ohhhhh, I see.

Well, I have the 'follower' requirement too and nobody has dropped in to my mentions yet.

Guys, I don't even see the discover feed. I nuked it ages ago, apparently.

And the monster was smiling at Victor, so there's that too.

"As I imprinted the first kiss on her lips, they became livid with the hue of death; her features appeared to change, and I thought that I held the corpse of my dead mother in my arms; a shroud enveloped her form, and I saw grave-worms crawling in the folds of the flannel"

Ugh, ugh, ugh!

If he's kissing Elizabeth and she turns dead, then into the rotting corpse of his mother....I believe Shelley's juxtaposition of this with the 'birth' of the Creature isn't an accident.

It just slams home the idea that what he really wants to do is revive his dead mama.

Wait Till You See Me Dance by Deb Olin Unferth.

It's 2017, which is recentish as far as books go.

Some total oedipal shit going on there.

Totally disgusting.
November 10, 2025 at 2:06 PM
I thought that was an allusion to the dream Victor had immediately after the Creature was brought to life.

The transmogrification between his mother and Elizabeth.

Just to be clear since I'm already seeing evidence of misunderstandings: I am only saying what my experience was. I am not telling anyone what to do or making any recommendations whatsoever. This should be obvious from my reply to Nick.
