All that glitters, has a high refractive index. Get thee down, be thou funky.

Looks epic! Love a good biscuit. Beer bread biscuits were my go-to back in the day. Haven’t made those in ages. Might have to swing back around on that. Great with Danish butter and Acacia honey.

There are 210 already planned for 2026, and projections are that as many as 130 hyperscale data centers are expected to come online EACH YEAR for the next DECADE.

Globally, we’re talking 2,300 new data centers by 2030, largely driven by idiotic hype around AI.

Also wondering how this will play out with the Ogallala Aquifer, and with large-scale private owners, like grumpy ‘ole T. Boone Pickens. I think he and Kyle Bass are the largest individual owners. I already had a problem with private ownership of water resources, but still. This is gonna get hectic.

Do you have and statistics that have been charted with regards to water usage in these data centers?

The techno-colonization of fresh water resources in the global south has been problematic already, and I’m wondering how that will play out in places like Texas, that already experience shortages.

Why is this happening?

Big tech co's AI revenue *is* growing rapidly. It's a game of chicken where none can afford to blink, because they don't want to get left behind.

But is that revenue enough to support projections this rosy? Analysts say, not likely.

3. This one's a doozy.

The world already has about 71 GW of data center capacity.

That's more electricity than the entire UK uses every moment of every day, on average.

By the end of 2027 it's projected to increase *by half*

2. Data center build out as a share of big tech company revenue. A lot of this is exotic things like private debt. Nothing to see here.

My latest on the AI bubble in finance: 6 charts that tell the story in ways that are hard to put into words.

1. U.S. data-center build-out. Notice the explosion in 2025. That's the permitting gold rush happening now. Would be shocking if 1 in 20 of these get built, but they factor into projections.
