Dammit, it's been 20+ years since I watched RotLW on RealPlayer in college - may be time to rewatch

For sure! The 'deep puzzles' with great gameplay is basically my favorite genre and Fez is a stone classic!

Big ups on Tunic too - it's super Zelda inspired AND has a language to parse like Sennar. Core loop is fighting tho, but no more violent than Zelda.

Outer Wilds is much, much tamer than Obra Dinn, but it's core loop does 'kill' you repeatedly so ok for a kid if they understand that games aren't real, but could (and should!) be affecting the first few times it loops. (Also liked the DLC, but ymmv)

If Dredge was fine (assuming she pushed it into the night enough to get scary!) then Obra Dinn may be ok - similar tone, but more violent, if static, scenes. Like pixelated ravaged sailor that you need to investigate violent.

Fez, Outer Wilds, Blue Prince for puzzles, exploration and tight game loop. Tunic and Return of the Obra Dinn for same but with violence.
