As the Tiktok diaspora rapidly attempt to learn Mandarin, might I recommend the 2010 Three Kingdoms series? Though supposedly ill-regarded in China, it's long been a favorite of my history nerd friend group for scenes like this:

A new recruit has joined the 𝕾𝖔𝖓𝖘 𝖔𝖋 𝕺𝖗𝖐𝖚𝖘 Mercenary Company, hailing from a far-off island, east of Taprobane. He's an odd fellow who sleeps in the rafters. The few soldiers that have seen the face behind his helmet assert that it is not much friendlier than the sneer hammered into it.
