Northern. Generalised wandering, nature, botany, birds. May also bang on about Castlefield Corridor without warning.
Feels a little bit more like it's autumn out there again. Blackbirds bathing in puddles, robins shouting at me. Lovely to see daylight in the week.

Heading down the hill after a hard day's navigating.* Good light. 💚

*It was proper tough, I broke a Silva compass. 😁

Helping out a friend who is training for her Hill and Moorland Leader award, so I've spent most of the day hanging around in a featureless bog. Quite a nice featureless bog, though.

Today's Facebook memories: learning winter "skills" in the Cairngorms. 😁 It's a wonder I'm still here, you know.

Good morning. From me, a chunky woodpidge and a fine collection of twittering house sparrows. Beautiful day for sittting at a laptop. 😁

Back up the hill with the Monday Night Headtorch Club. Bit of a brisk northerly, nearly got frostbite taking this picture. Always happy to suffer for my art. 🎨😁

Another chilly lunchtime walk. Remembered my hat today though. 😁

Morning! Up at the crack of dawn to set up a new laptop. Day one of new job. Fingers crossed it's less mad than the last one. And that the sunshine is a good omen. ☀️

Tonight's Monday Night Head Torch Club put the head torches to good use, artfully lighting funghi.

Went on a jolly to sunny Barrow-in-Furness.* Was bloody lovely. Saw seals, all the world's waders. And a weasel. And a good sunset. 100% recommend.

*Walney Island, technically.

Some absolutely stunning turkey tail funghi in the woods today. 💚 #FungiFriends

The most marvellous piece of art I've seen in a museum this year. 😁 The cheese picture from Wallace and Gromit's living room. In the Harris at Preston as part of their Nick Park exhibition.

Luke Jerram's Gaia at Blackburn Cathedral. So much blue. 💙

And on a slightly more macro (blurry macro) level, JELLY FUNGHI! 💛 A smidge of yellow brain on a soggy log in the woods at Roddlesworth. #FungiFriends

Headgear at Lancashire Mining Museum, looming about impressively in the moonlight tonight.

Been to look at Organised Fire. Even though it's a symbol of historic oppression of Catholics. 😁 Current earworm: "as the flames rose to her Roman nose, and her walkman started to melt. " 🎵

Big Wheel above the docks at Liverpool Light Night. Like a weird menacing structural moon. 😁

Liverpool Light Night: Dandelion. Loved this.

Went for a Hallowe'en wander round Liverpool Light Night. The docks, from up on the big wheel. Experimenting with
chiaroscuro.*

*Currently reading a book about Caravaggio. 😁

And top marks to the Pendle Inn for 1) going all out with the Hallowe'en decorations 2) providing me with a lovely hot chocolate after I'd been up the hill in the cold, dark and rain.
