@surfdudeken03.bsky.social
Husband, dad, surfer, sailor, bibliophile, and baker. I love F1, Man United, and the LA Kings. Civil appellate attorney, but not yours. Posts are mine, not employer's.
Also...look at how much trouble I'm in with Surfin_Daughter...

Proud dad and mom moment. Surfin_Son is sailing on his own and has and has been cleared to race!

He got his first private lesson with a multi-time and multi-boat World Champion who happened to be Mrs. Surfin's long time coach as a kid yesterday.

At least 28 executions without trial for the ALLEGED crime of drug trafficking. Something that wouldn't get you the death penalty if convicted.

Good morning!

@elleb.bsky.social finished 18th overall and was the 7th place woman in her division! While that was not the result she wanted, she’s earned a berth in next year’s world championships! (5/6)

For the non-sailors, a port-tack start is a highly risky maneuver where you attempt to cross the entire fleet without the right of way. Get it right and you can have a massive advantage of clear air and the lead. Get it wrong and you've fouled multiple boats and will be penalized to the max. (4/6)

The biggest highlight came when @elleb.bsky.social port tacked the entire fleet & led the nearly 60 sailors for over 10 minutes before a huge wind shift left her searching for air & speed and finishing in 8th place. Competitors from Spain were hollering "OLE! OLE! GO!!!" As she passed them by. (3/6)

Nearly 500 competitors, aged 30-89 yrs old, from 37 countries participated in the regatta. Over the course of seven straight days of racing, @elleb.bsky.social pulled in multiple top 10 finishes, including a 7th place and finishing 8th place twice! (2/6)

Hello from Formia, Italy! @elleb.bsky.social has finished her participation in the ILCA Masters World Championships! From steady 15kt breezes to torrential downpours to ultra-light and shifty 6kt winds, this regatta had it all. (1/6)

Because I think a timeline cleanse is needed. Here's what I've been doing for the past several days.

Wait, your loaves last longer than a couple of hours? I make 2 at a time (about a kilo each) and only have crumbs left once my family sets upon them with some kerrygold or our homemade salted butter.

Last night I had to set up @elleb.bsky.social's regatta schedule for next year. It's intense, but necessary to show US Sailing she's ready for inclusion on the US Sailing Team & to qualify for next year's world championships.

Follow the journey & support her if you can! www.secondwindracing.com

In an effort to not worsen the sunburn on my legs, I am taking the kiddos to the movies while @elleb.bsky.social is racing today.

How to Train Your Dragon! With a Chipotle lunch beforehand.

Tough 1st day for @elleb.bsky.social. 2 hr postponement then she had a great start, was with the leaders at the windward mark before the race was canceled due to lack of wind. She ended the day in 43rd overall. Says she sailed a lot better than her position shows. 3 more days to improve!

My wife was racing in that regatta!

Dining at a lovely northern Italian restaurant in San Luis Obispo this evening, Buona Tavola. Last time I was here was in summer of 2019. Glad it is still here!

So, day 3 dawned with sunny skies and light winds (6-7 knots.) Definitely not @elleb.bsky.social's favorite conditions.

That said, after 6 races in one day, she finished as the #3 woman & 6th overall! Big haul of points for both her world & North American rankings! (They're separate point systems)

And we just received notice of race cancelation for the day. Ugh.

Remember that time we came to Tahoe so @elleb.bsky.social could race in the Pacific Coast Championships?

Still no racing. Postponed again due to: snow. 36⁰ air temp, 25kts of wind, and sub 50 degree water = too much risk of hypothermia to race.
June 21, 2025 at 9:13 PM
That said, @elleb.bsky.social looked good today! We'll try again tomorrow to get the ILCA Pacific Coast Championships off and running.

Well, this view doesn't suck. We're in Tahoe for the ILCA Pacific Coast Championships. Early evening from the back porch and sunrise from bed.
