He can't wait for game to start, & his character has a therapy plant that's left over from a friend that he can't let die because of what it might say about his failure and I think we are both ready to see what happens to that okra and his mental health XD./6

So now my newest player has been getting a bunch of prologue msgs this week in character about his relationship to a bunch of ppl, little stories to get him to love & care about them, & then how they aren't here anymore & the painful fragments his character remembers about how he got them killed./5

Like, you get to watch as you make a truly feral fanbase for 1 story of like 5 ppl, & it's great. You get to watch 2 ppl handle ship wars by literally being part writer & PLAYING those characters, or setting themselves up to feel the knife of tragedy as both writer, actor, & audience./3

The best part of collaborative storytelling in TTRPGs that I don't think you can really understand till you get to play one fr is how you can really sculpt & personalize a narrative around an audience of 3-5 ppl and how that can let you make something truly unique, personal, & special to all there/2

Lol this has been my pitch to all the new players, we will work on narrative and story, and then I will proceed to use all that we built to rip their heart out and show it to them, and when I ask them if they are ok and want me to stop they'll say, "No, put it back & do it again." lol./1

lol yes, you learn a lot about what makes you & your table's gears turn, but it's good shit. We are bringing in 2 ppl rn and it's been a few months of pre production as we work on characters, fashion aesthetic, past messy life, etc.

lol well I think for that what matters more is your table than the game. I've been playing the same campaign now for like 13 years and that's in part because I and the ppl at the table have just matched each other for all that time. Look for the table and the rest will follow.

God Obra Din was such a good game. Is it wrong to want a sequel to this damn thing and I'm still sad no one's tried to hit on this ride again either in aesthetic or mechanics.
