#AltHSky upd8: yup, it's blow-it-up-and-start-from-scratch time. unrecoverable errors that were solved in later releases of the sdk but my hacked-together copy wasn't set up in a way that could receive updates. aiming to get the new one up either today or tomorrow.

i feel a need to have a word for contemporary furry-influenced therians to distinguish them from old web therians (who are still around, by the way, hence the need to differentiate) and i swear if nobody comes up with something it's gonna be "furrians"

attempting to do what i can to salvage the #althsky feed today. documentation remains dogshit for custom feed generators and self-hosters. might have to blow the whole thing up and start again if i can't find any info on migrating to another server

it took me a minute, but i finally got round to writing that piece on being otherhearted i said i would... i hope you like it and i hope it enriches people's understanding of what the term can be beyond just "not quite therian / otherkin" :B

There is a particular way marginalised identities are often dismissed. They are called phases, coping mechanisms, and internet subcultures. Something aesthetic, performative, or juvenile; something you’ll surely grow out of once you get a job and a sensible haircut. Therianthropy is almost always treated this way in many respects and by people from across the political spectrum. And yet UK equality law is not concerned with whether a belief is fashionable, comfortable, or legible to the majority.
