We will smother the toast in avocado and smoked salmon and hopefully that'll make up for the deficit. The salmon is curing in salt and brown sugar tonight and will go in the smoker in the morning. Smoked salmon covers a multitude of culinary sins.😆

I used King Arthur 1:1. It worked pretty well for cookies but the texture of the yeast bread dough was really off putting. I think it turned into a decent bread, final verdict tomorrow, but it's certainly not as pretty or floofy as my normal breads.

Thanks. She just realized she's lactose intolerant and has Celiac, I have the red meat allergy and a bunch of other food intolerances. The foods we can both eat don't cross over much. Eating together is certainly an adventure.

She's been able to find brownies and stuff pretty easily. Baking hubris may have gotten away from me a little trying to make ciabatta sourdough on the first go, but a bread like substance was formed. 😅 The cookies certainly came out more cookie like than the bread is bread like.

I mean, it made bread. It's got some floof, smells pretty good. It's ugly as heck though and certainly not something I'd make for myself. Should hopefully make decent enough toast to pile avocados and smoked salmon on, which is the goal.

After feeling the texture of the dough and its lack of floof I'm gonna have to agree with you. Luckily the goal is some nice toast, not a super floofy sandwich bread or somewhat. But the main main goal is not killing my friend😆. Pretty sure I at least hit that goal.

My friend requested chocolate chip cookies which seemed to come out pretty well. But the yeast ciabatta is one of the ugliest breads I've ever made. I make a LOT of yeast bread to the point I can freestyle recipes. It's got some bounce? Maybe it's okay? 😬 I did use the King Arthur.

I love him and want to be his best friend. I would also like to fist fight the people who told him he had no emotions. Curiosity is an emotion! Wanting to be kind is an emotion! Fondness is an emotion!

I have also been told I don't have emotions like other people. Believing that is so damaging.

As an ace/aro writer whose stupid characters keep falling in love...yup. I have 2 amorous cuddling scenes & that's nearly too much. MMC is demisexual with FMC as his 1st sexual attraction, & FMC is all in. I use him being flustered as a shield.😆 Poor man went a-courtin' & got more than he expected.

I'm nearly 40. Only within the last decade did I accept it's fine I don't want hugs & the people who assume I do are the weirdos. (I live in the southern U.S., they're huggers.) I discovered the couch snuggles within the last 4. I had 0 idea physical contact could be relaxing. For almost 40 years.
November 21, 2025 at 2:27 AM
If I'm hugging someone it's always for their benefit with very, very few exceptions & 1 person.

Touching me with a hand? No touchy! Do not like!

Leaning against each other, particularly platonic couch snuggles? All. Day. Long.

I fairly recently discovered the couch thing & it's a game changer.

Didn't change the minds of the sitting senators, they still caved. We have to do more.

You said "you agree with me, yes?" I didn't. I refuted so not to have words put in my mouth. We're fighting for the same thing, not sure why you think it's an argument. You can stop replying any time.
November 21, 2025 at 12:44 AM
Dude you replied to me. The votes did not make the big change we wanted. Neither did the protests. If protests fixed things we'd have defunded the police long ago. Protests say what we want & find like minded people. I've never seen a change of policy because of one in my lifetime. The recent votes-

I dunno. Feels like if they thought that was American soil they wouldn't need a sign claiming it for their commander. You don't go around claiming land that's already yours.

Believing Republicans are stupid lets them get away with so many things with just a finger waggle as consequence.

I'm ace, none of my books have any spice. One series has a running joke of every time the main couple so much as kisses someone walks in. Another has 2 ace protags. The 3rd it just wouldn't fit. I'll never write spice. I'll never read spice. Plenty of people will be happy to find a spice less book.

I thought about that. But also I don't think it'd be particularly tasty in tea.
November 20, 2025 at 9:57 PM
- and the Dems still caved. So we need to do more. None of that involves doing what the fascist say. We need to point out when things aren't the solution. We've voted and protested for years. We're still right here. The plan can't be the same thing we've already been doing.
November 20, 2025 at 9:53 PM
No, I don't agree. Complying in advance means doing what the fascists want before they force you. Pointing out we've done the things you suggested and were still in the same place isn't the same at all. Again, I see the protests as evidence of change. Not causing change itself. We voted like hell-
November 20, 2025 at 9:53 PM
I bring up that voting and protests won't make the change because so many people seem to want to stop there and wait until they work. They're part of the magic soup but can't be the whole thing. (Which I understand wasn't particularly clear in my original post.)
