Happy June, Friends!

We are here to start a movement in the furry fandom, so that people can see just how prevalent disability is within the community.

For that, we need YOUR help! Help us reach others, connect with furries, and share your stories.
This is your periodic reminder that accessibility is not a one-size-fits-all solution. #disabledfurry #disability #furry

When you are told that your request can’t be accommodated, ask them to give you the specific hardship your accommodation creates.

If they can’t provide that, the problem is that they don’t WANT to accommodate you.

It will never cease to amaze me how people will talk over disabled folks, tell us we’re wrong, infantilize us etc… and yet they can’t realize that in refusing to believe us and give us agency they’re almost always proving our point.

We aren’t listened to. We aren’t believed. Ableism is everywhere

Disability accommodation is not a one-size-fits-all solution. While there are things that can be done to accommodate the widest group of people, accommodation requires talking to individuals to find out what THEY need. 💚💙🤍💛♥️

A question for everyone:

What accommodations would you like to see become more common in the furry community?

For me: more available seating at events in halls and common areas.

Did you know that there’s a #Disability Pride flag?

With sensory friendly muted colors:

Green - Sensory disabilities
Blue - Emotional/psychiatric disabilities
White - Invisible & undiagnosed disabilities
Gold - Neurodivergence
Red - Physical disabilities

Disabilities take on a variety of appearances and have diverse needs. The sunflower symbol, which originated in the UK, helps to create visibility through a bright and cheerful way.

You can use this, or the disability pride flag, to identify yourself, if you choose. #disability #disabledfurries

The sunflower is a subtle symbol of disability and accessibility needs, particularly for those whose disabilities are not visible.
