She is very traditional. She is wearing her regional bunad, which is her outfit. She carries her veske (small purse) attached to the belt at her waist. She is unmarried, wearing a cap rather than a crown. She is adorned with sølje, the silver jewelry on a chain around her neck. I have one too.

I think the closest I’m going to get is my Norwegian Barbie. But there might be some Viking type Legos out there, I guess that would do.

This is our beautiful boy, Torry. This photo was taken in June, just after he turned six. By early, October, his pancreas had shut down and we could’ve dealt with that, but then his liver went. We miss him dreadfully. We wish he were here too.

He never talked about it. A few years ago I was researching on Ancestry, and there I found the paperwork sending him home from Guam at the war’s end. I never knew until then where he’d served.

It’s definitely big stupid. Living next-door to somebody who speaks a a different language is the very definition of living in or near a melting pot city like Chicago. Languages and cultures make us all richer.

We recently went through similar with our beloved boy Torry. Not cancer, but organ failure. I’m so sorry for you and Bliss. 💔

I've done a deep genealogical dive on documentation/paperwork for my closest relatives.
I have the paperwork for my very young uncle (Navy, 1944-46) returning via ship from Guam as WWII wound down. He then went to U of IL and became a nuclear chemist.
I'd like to do the same as you would.
