Where’s the Terminally Ill Adults Bill?

It’s at committee stage in the House of Lords. Assisted dying is still illegal in the UK, and even if the Bill passes, it’s unlikely to become law before 2027.

We’re making sure palliative care stays central.

Today’s Men’s Health Strategy rightly recognises the impact of bereavement on men’s loneliness.
Our research found many men felt like the “odd one out” for seeking support, pressured by the idea they should just be “brave”.

We need to make it OK for men to reach out.

Today the House of Lords starts to examine the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill line-by-line.

We'll be following the debate closely and engaging with members of the House of Lords to make sure access to good palliative care stays at the heart of the conversation.

As the Terminally Ill Adults Bill moves through its committee stage in the House of Lords, these conversations are more important than ever. Good palliative care should never be overlooked.

Very impressed by letter in @theguardian.com from @jamescsanderson.bsky.social. We can’t talk about hospices without talking about inequalities in access to hospice care in less affluent areas and communities.

Great to hear @hospiceuk.bsky.social CEO Toby Porter speaking to the House of Lords committee on the importance of improving palliative care ahead of any introduction of assisted dying. It's so important that terminally ill people have access to the right care and genuine choice at the end of life.
Today Hospice UK CEO, Toby Porter, gave evidence to the House of Lords inquiry on assisted dying today.

In his evidence, Toby highlighted the significant financial pressures still facing the hospice sector, which continue to limit patient access to vital care and support.
