Chloe, Welfare & Benefits Manager at St Barnabas Hospice, helps people in financial hardship during the hardest times.

She supports around 350 people a month to access vital benefits.

Parents Barney and Harvie travel 1.5 hrs from rural Cumbria so their son Rafferty can receive respite care at Jigsaw Children’s Hospice.

Barney says: "The reality of caring for a profoundly disabled child in such a remote location has been incredibly tough"

Today we're at Stormont in Belfast, joining Hospice Alliance Northern Ireland as they welcomed the Assembly’s 27 recommendations to improve palliative and end of life care.

The Alliance is calling for the recommendations to be implemented in full and we are proud to support them.

This comes as our data reveals that 380 beds are out of use in English hospices, as a result of insufficient funding.

Hospice UK’s new data shows specialist hospice staff made 150,000 fewer home visits this year, because rising costs and insufficient funding are holding services back.

Powerful piece on Newsnight last night highlighting the hospice funding crisis, filmed at St Raphael's Hospice.

It was also incredibly moving to hear Sir Michael Palin share his experience of the vital care his late wife received, and to use his platform to call for urgent government support.
"Those last four weeks of her life when she was in the hospice, I think it's odd to say, but were some of the happiest of her life."
