Democrats' demand that Stephen Miller is fired as a condition of voting for ICE funding is one of the smartest moves they've made under Trump.
Miller is a loathsome figure who I imagine has rock-bottom likability numbers. Democrats should try to raise his public salience as often as possible.

I think it’s probably good that they’ve been forced to be explicit about it: this is a pacification operation, Federal paramilitaries being used to force a population into compliance with Miller’s political agenda.

Feds have been ramming people with their cars. No one has murdered them in response.
If the suggestion here is that these officers killed Pretti because of this previous incident, that’s worse. Kicking a tail light is not a capital crime. And we don’t do delayed, extrajudicial executions here.

Okay so I was actually at this encounter, filmed the aftermath, and am briefly visible in this video, and I would point out that what he does here is briefly kick a car twice. ICE beats him up, shoots pepper balls into the crowd, and launches tear gas at everyone else before leaving.
News Movement posted this video of Alex Pretti on Jan 13, showing him spitting at ICE agents and kicking their taillight.
Now conservatives are suggesting this changes things.

I understand that all of us have to live our lives and therefore simply cannot think deeply about the fact that the current fascist President of the United States is deeply unwell.
I do think, however, that it is the JOB of CONGRESS and the CABINET to protect the country FROM HIM. NOW.

We should still increase the training requirement to be as burdensome and expensive as possible to consume as much of ICE's resources as possible and slow the addition of new recruits to the streets. Make them all get PhDs in ICE Goon, with two languages, advanced mountain rescue, and tango.
The lack of training is not the problem. The School of the Americas was a training facility, and that only made death squads more efficient.
Personally I think this is too much money for Donald trumps untrained heavily armed militia
