Maybe it's problematic, I dunno, I haven't watched it in a decade

Doesn't stop it from being one of my favorite episodes purely for the ending, can't wait to see your reaction

Update for correction:

Paul Greengrass wasn't even *involved* with IDENTITY. He directed SUPREMACY and ULTIMATUM based on Tony Gilroy stories, Gilroy kept writing and took over directing too on LEGACY, and then Greengrass did both on JASON BOURNE.

Which kinda makes him like a post-9/11 gritty spy action-thriller George Lucas, I suppose.

Greengrass may be the primary guiding force behind the franchise, but it's clear he needs the focusing influence of other creators to elevate his work, and letting him take full control and work with people who only amplify his worst instincts results in garbage.

(Which kinda makes him post-9/11 gritty spy action-thriller George Lucas, I guess?)

But yeah, just looking over the wikipedia article for the franchise and whose creative minds were behind what entries? It suddenly makes a LOT more sense why the final film sucks as much as it does.

Actually, funny enough, JASON BOURNE was written by Greengrass...and the *editor* of BOURNE ULTIMATUM.

Who somehow won an editing Oscar and BAFTA for ULTIMATUM despite that movie's editing (combined with cinematography) famously being migraine-inducing? It's like the precursor to BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY.

Similarly, ALL of the films EXCEPT the last were written by future ANDOR scribe Tony Gilroy, who also directed THE BOURNE LEGACY (the Jeremy Renner/Rachel Weisz one, which I remember liking).

No Gilroy on JASON BOURNE, though.

Like...IDENTITY was directed by Doug Liman, who also did MR & MRS SMITH and EDGE OF TOMORROW. He's competent. But SUPREMACY, ULTIMATUM, and JASON BOURNE were directed by movie franchise co-creator Paul Greengrass, who's infamous for increasing the shakeycam to ridiculous levels.

It really is mainly that JASON BOURNE feels like this obligatory sequel in a post-FORCE AWAKENS legacy sequel world. But unlike most legacy sequels, it doesn't give new talent a chance to take a fresh crack at the material, and it also looses most of the things that make the old material decent.

And then, over time...it just all went away or got worse. They stopped adding new backwards compatible titles. Game Pass's price went up.
December 9, 2025 at 10:39 PM
And then, a few years in, I got a free trial of Game Pass for being a ten-year Xbox Live Gold subscriber, and I kept it up from there because it was so exciting to be able to try both exciting indies and new AAAs without worrying about spending $60-70 on a game I ended up only trying a couple times.

I plugged in my external hard drive with a bunch of my Xbox One installs on it? Bam, they're all ready to go and running better than ever. Wanna play an original Xbox game in 16:9 and 4K60FPS? Here you go. Want the updated X|S clients for the biggest current titles. Bang, Smart Delivery.

Issue is that even if I had some greater reason to go on other than just being a fan (like, I'm not an artist or writer, I don't have a podcast of my own, etc)

They're almost done with the main movies! They've only got four Showa, one Heisei, one Millennium, two Monsterverse, and Minus One left!

Tbf, considering that whatever Dorothy saw when she threw the water on Elphaba was convincing enough, I'm sure it was doubly convincing for Glinda only to see as a shadow on the wall
