It’s the po-faced offended virtue that’s getting to me here. Oh no, imagine! People working with Labour Together, in secret! To launder their bullshitty dossiers of smeary drivel into moral panics! So that they can be presented as good faith, independent, public interest concerns! Heaven forfend!

'tea'

The civilised English,
tongue-scalding comfort.

Who doesn’t want
a nice “cuppa char”?

Stewed leaf, sugar to taste
and *just the right* milk:

hot enough to satisfy,
cool enough to drink.

Went up Whernside and Ingleborough on Friday. Cold but fun.

We already had a minor, tangential version of this when a QC investigated a leaked report from the party and the report was so damning that the press immediately declared it was no big deal, all in the past then threw it into the bin and then never spoke of it again.

If only the Democrats had ever had the power to defund, dismantle, and abolish the *very obviously* fascist paramilitary force that was being built under their watch.

See also: the UK Labour Party.
so what makes you so sure dem leadership hasn't already negotiated for positions of influence under the fourth reich?
January 23, 2026 at 8:55 AM
If only the Democrats had abolished the very obviously fascist paramilitary when they had the chance, eh. Even now most of you fuckers are only worried about the lack of fucking training.

You complicit, controlled opposition cunts.
Kristi Noem is telling ICE agents they can forcibly enter your home without a judicial warrant.

That is unconstitutional.

History will judge us if we do not stand up to the lawlessness and cruelty of this administration.

Got a day off and I'm hitting Whernside and Ingleborough, early as possible to avoid the rain. It's still proper shitty conditions which will make it "interesting", but it's not the full 3 Peaks so... yeah. We will see.

In the UK at least since the run up to Brexit, in the US maybe longer, we've just been watching the Right become progressively more and more openly wacky authoritarians and yet receive the same "maybe the left need to listen to their reasonable concerns!?" treatment from a certain kinda centrist.

Don't shoot harmless animals for materials or experience. Dunno. Seems unnecessary.
Anyone else have self-imposed rules or habits when playing video games?

I refuse to eat bugs. I don't care that it's a game and I can't actually taste the food. I will let my character starve for a few hours looking for something more appetizing rather than eat insects.

Someone who's very prominent in the public eye has my Twitter account in their feed. They used to follow me before they got prominent but had to unfollow in the last year because I don't really have the sort of account they'd want to be caught being formally associated with and I get that.

But even worse is his blithe admission that a happy ending is unlikely in Iran come what may. In contrast, we know that the lives of Palestinians could be hugely improved by restraining Israel. If we can only afford a limited amount of protest, where would it best be spent?

Jonathan Freedland is obviously arguing in bad faith, not least in pretending not to understand that Brits protesting the UK govt's policy re Gaza is not equivalent to Brits having sympathy for Iranians whose oppression is not facilitated by the RAF.

He's 2 years too late, of course.
Every Democratic lawmaker needs to speak out strongly against #ICELawlessness & brutality like Governor Walz does here.

The time for mealy-mouthed timidness & focus group-talking points is over.

We're facing a deadly serious threat to our national security.

We need brave leaders, not cowards!

I would ask: is this organic reporting that the paper has done of its own back or is it again a dossier of wild claims based on printouts of Facebook comments that Steve Reed and co have dredged together, then handed to a Times hack in the pub with a fist bump, like it was in 2019.

And you can make all the shallow excuses you want, but she threw the election. Her internal polling showed her losing *if she stuck to her "eat shit" strategy*. And that's the strategy she stuck with.
If only Kamala hadn't thrown that easily winnable election then, huh.

Facebook's Help & Support is the definition of Kafkaesque. The enshittification of their "services" seems to have gone so far that we're in some sort of alternate reality.

Wow, perhaps we need to convene a parliamentary committee, ask urgent questions in the House and launch an all-channels two-month media campaign

In normal cases, a police officer could beat someone to death on live TV, and politicians will be queuing round the block to say they have full confidence not only in the police, but in that particular officer
