Georgia first came to Central Library nearly 75 years ago with her first grade class, where she received her very first library card and checked out “The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins” by Dr. Seuss. Today, memories came rushing back.

In 1924, in St. Louis, A.W. Heitmeyer Hardware, located at 5350 Devonshire Ave., was the go-to place for paints, polish, tools and just about anything else needed to keep your home running smoothly.

At that time, hardware stores served as one-stop shops for the community.
