Fun fact! The tallest Sequoia outside of California is in Tacoma!
Very tall sequoia tree with a hound/pit mix in the foreground, somewhat blocking the massive tree trunk. The dog has a little smile and is clearly a very good girl. A very tall sequoia in a park at sunset. The trunk is massive. There's also a wavy dog ear in the lower right corner. The photo is a lil crooked bc the dog did not go to the park to sit around while pictures are being taken so there wasn't much time to set up the shot.

I love how @letterboxd.social can show me in 30 seconds all the French movies from the 60s that are free for me to stream.

Best $15 dollars ever spent. Saves me oodles of time! Plus LB made realize I can quit Netflix and not miss it at all!

Kept my promise and took the pups on a 3 hour hike thru Point Defiance today!

Never crossed my mind to wonder how the US consul helped the Gaza-bound humanitarian air flotilla delegation from the US, after they were abducted, robbed, abused, and denied their basic human rights ...

I'm very very sad to find out these Americans were absolutely abandoned by the US. So so sad
In fact, if you look at, actually, the different delegations that are part of this mission, the U.S. delegation was treated by far — one of the worst by our own consular services. They did not arrive to the prison camp until maybe four days after our disappearance and detention in the middle of the Negev Desert. And when they did, they said, “You know what, guys? You’re on your own. There’s nothing we can do for you. You’re in Israel’s hands now.” And I will say it did not stop there, the systematic abandonment by the State Department and the consular services. When we were eventually freed and deported to Jordan, we were dropped there. The other delegations that were there were greeted, welcomed, treated, hugged, put into hotels, given flights home. The U.S. consul told us, “We are not your babysitters. We will not provide food, water, clothes, hotels, transportation. The most we can do for you is have the Jordanians drive you to the airport. We’re going to drop you off without any cellphones or money. You are on your own.” That is how our government thinks about us. They do not serve us. They serve the state of Israel. And they share what I would maybe describe as the Pete Hegseth school of international law, that due process is no process, and it doesn’t matter that we never saw a judge, a jury, never saw our lawyers or a prosecutor, were never charged with anything.

It could still be a lie, sure. But I don't think it's disproved just because the officers were already there when the accident happened.
Before the collision, Ragusa said that Giuliani was helping “a woman who was the victim of a domestic violence incident” and remained at the scene on Interstate 93 until officers ensured her safety.  After troopers arrived, Goodman drove the former associate attorney general southbound on the highway when the woman struck “from behind at high speed,” Ragusa said.

This account is based on an analysis of nearly 23 hours of videos Soelberg posted to Instagram and YouTube, a review of 72 pages of Greenwich police reports related to Soelberg prior to the murder-suicide, public records and interviews with friends, neighbors and other Greenwich locals. The Journal didn’t have access to Soelberg’s entire chatlog.

This week's theme is R&B, rockabilly and early rock 'n' roll. I got that idea while listening to a terrific podcast I recommend called "A History Of Rock Music In 500 Songs." While listening to the early episodes about the prehistory and early history of rock, I often found myself thinking, wait, that person is in our archive. Those are the people we'll be hearing from. Later today, we'll hear my interview with one of the pioneers of rockabilly, Carl Perkins, who wrote and made the first recording of "Blue Suede Shoes." After that, Elvis made his hit recording.

FWIW, DuckDuckGo's DuckAssist correctly said that water will freeze at 20 degrees f.

Have you tried Letterboxd? It's a cataloging service for film. Here I filtered for AppleTV & documentary. A couple music docs popped up.

I pay $20/year for premium & it saves SO much time. I no longer scroll thru in-app streaming catalogs that seem to get more & more cumbersome & disorganized.

Imho there's movie worthy stories. In addition policy successes, she deescalated lots of labor disputes.

There'd be calls to "send in the police!", "send in federal troops!", or "hang the striking sailors from the post office roof!" She'd get both parties to work it out peacefully.
