That is such awful news. He was an absolute gent. A voice of reason, incredibly knowledgeable and interesting but never arrogant about it and just a very decent man who I really enjoyed chatting with. Thoughts are with you and the family Rae x

When a keeper comes off his line and saves (intentionally or not) they get a second chance when it’s retaken. Feels extremely hard that the same chance is not afforded in the situation.

No worries mate, appreciate that, things got a little fraught after that end to the game haha. Apologies for calling you weird as well, that was out of line.

We definiteiy will, but I trust Slot to navigate it with the right changes, and while it’s unrealistic to expect not to drop some points in the period, I don’t think it will be many.

And they are being a bit more expansive and not just sitting deep, that would really suit us if they try and have a go
February 1, 2025 at 8:05 PM
I want it the game before so we get the trophy lift that day AND he has to give us a guard of honour
February 1, 2025 at 8:04 PM
I’m inclined to agree, and if he isn’t yet I think he can be.

Hopefully they extended for 2 years and we get the succession right in that time. But even if not. At least we will have these two years.
January 2, 2025 at 11:05 AM
Which would be insane. Think it worked out that for the two of them, for a couple of years and with a wage bump you’re looking at around 70m. We aren’t getting a world leading finisher and centre back, all in including fees and wages for that. We’ll be paying more and getting less
January 2, 2025 at 11:04 AM
Yeah I’ve been of the mind for ages that there are two we desperately need to renew. For Me theres not even a discussion, there are the best in the world in their roles. If we lose then we but default will be worse off, and probably have to pay a fortune on signings to be so.
January 2, 2025 at 10:54 AM
I guess it will all come out in the wash in time won’t it. We don’t know how long and how focused the negotiations have been. Or what appetite has been shown on both sides to progress them
January 2, 2025 at 10:50 AM
It’s clear the under Slot the emphasis to create from FB is not as vital as it was under Klopp so we could get by with a more ‘normal’ RB. But any team would benefit from a player of Trent’s ability, that’s just an unavoidable truth
January 2, 2025 at 10:49 AM
Trent ability wise is an interesting one anyway. I came to a conclusion a while back. He’s by no means the best right back in the world, but he’s the best footballer playing at right back in the world
January 2, 2025 at 10:48 AM
But I look back to Suarez, a player with no LFC ties. After discussions with Gerrard he renewed his deal knowing Barca would come in the next summer.

He produced a ridiculous season and the club got a really good wedge of money, he got the move.

Trent could have gone that route.
January 2, 2025 at 10:42 AM
Oh I’ve said the same for ages. The decision is: be next captain of home town club, become a legend at YOUR club v be super loaded, play for Madrid, be in Spain, be with his best mate.

It would be tempting to anyone
January 2, 2025 at 10:40 AM
And if I remember rightly, Mcmanaman whilst being greedy, at least announced his intentions early so everyone knew where they stood
January 2, 2025 at 10:22 AM
I take your point, but not suggesting that he leaves hisok the breadline are we. His agent brother will still make a fortune from the move regardless.
January 2, 2025 at 10:21 AM
But still very keen to point out the
‘IF’ at this stage. He may still gent every intention of staying and extending.
January 2, 2025 at 10:09 AM
Exactly, if he is wanting to leave and wants to see the season out then there damage is done. He will be earning a fortune regardless, but he would have put that signing on fee for him and his brother ahead of helping the club that made him. It won’t be forgotten.
January 2, 2025 at 10:08 AM
And IF that’s the case then he’s putting the wealth of him and his brother ahead of the club he claims to love, and for that reason I would be inclined to accept it.
January 2, 2025 at 10:01 AM
It’s an understandably selfish decision in some regards, but a selfish decision non the less and one that won’t be forgotten.
December 31, 2024 at 8:10 PM
And that’s his prerogative. And it’s our prerogative as fans to judge him for that call. He’s a very wealthy young man, he’ll earn a fortune at RM regardless. All he’s done is cost the club he claims to love the chance to earn the money to get a replacement.
December 31, 2024 at 8:10 PM
The thing is, and I don’t mean that in a horrible way, it’s just an observation, most of his good defensive work comes from when he has lost the ball and is frantically trying to redeem himself. Its a good quality to have, but one that he has to deploy to frequently.
