Not if it is a politically inspired charge - like supporting PA by holding up a sign. Then a Jury is crucial.

Worth remembering the valuation in 1991 was essentially "back of a fag packet" analysis/fiction not a review of actual individual properties. Eventually I got £000s Council Tax back because my property wasn't valued properly.

Surely questions about the Budget are best asked after it is delivered?

Austhorpe Road sweet shop, Leeds used to sell this in 1958. A very realistic sweet cigarette that emitted smoke when you blew into it. (Spoiler: it wasn't real smoke). I loved how random adults would tut at me "smoking" 😇

That reminds me of the Chair of my (then) local council that was 100% Tory. He told me Tory-only was excellent because it meant there was no political element to their decisions. It is LibDem now.

To be fair, it is really easy to dislike Starmer.
He is such a massive disappointment.
Amateur at politics and worryingly authoritatrian.

By definition England still isn't sovereign. It is a part of the United Kingdom and NI.

I am Irish so I don't demand it. I just feel entitled 😇

Agreed. But that was the era of Special Schools. Before the 2010 legislation?
November 23, 2025 at 8:12 PM
That's a strange example. Delivery of adequate special educational needs is struggling while taking massive bites out of LA budgets. There may be more resources but also much greater demand. It is worse than before.

failed populist?

Unlike Starmer - who had a long list of things he promised and u-turned on them all?

I can't wait to read Nathan Gill's book 😇

Maybe 😀

Based on that summary, it seems you don't understand the proposals.
November 20, 2025 at 4:08 PM
Completely agree. I don't trust Blue Labour to do it fairly though.

That the same Chancellor who took away my Winter Fuel Allowance and threatened my mother-in-law's benefits? I hope you are right!

I read it and got fed up there because his"devastatingly simple" case for reform was a non-sequitur. And based the whole proposal for asylum cases on the under 40% that arrive by small boats. Didn't bother to read the rest.

A very low number of pubs qualify to be included in this competition.

That is a completely different argument to taxing me what I cannot afford to pay just because my house has increased in value. Tax the increase when I sell or via inheritance tax.
