“He would sidle up to me and growl: ‘Hitler was right,’ or ‘Gas them,’ sometimes adding a long hiss to simulate the sound of the gas showers".

"Culture war" appears to mean the attempt to undermine, poison or destroy what is best or healthiest in our culture. See the attacks on the BBC by supposed "patriots".

Much of our political culture is fundamentally incompetent.

Perhaps they are taking this notion of "your party" a bit too far, I don't think it's meant to be one each..?
Blimey. Major new split in Your Party. Blackburn MP Adnan Hussain -who is secretary of the Your Party company - says he's quitting due to "persistent infighting, factional competition, and a struggle for power, position and influence rather than a shared commitment to the common good."

Those whose job appears to be briefing against Starmer’s perceived enemies have a superb record of stupidity going back to when he was leader of the opposition. Remember when they briefed against Rayner & she ended up getting promoted? I don’t think tiredness is the issue: incompetence is.

The people briefing against cabinet ministers seem to be motivated mainly by the desire to keep their jobs rather than any particular concern for the prime minister or the government.

Good clear advice for the BBC on hanging tough with Trump from @brianstelter.bsky.social on Newsnight.

If you're a media organisation and you're not being/haven't been sued by Trump really what are you doing?

Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

Tim Davie has sort of "done a Cameron" by resigning when his enemies didn't think he would, thereby throwing the spotlight back on them.

The BBC will fuck things up from time to time. Lots of major news organisations do; just look at The Times having to memoryhole several fake news stories in a matter of weeks.

No one is calling for the abolition of The Times, however.
