I’m glad you tracked Curtis down and interviewed him. He’s a thoughtful man who,despite all the hoopla about the photo, hopes that viewers focus on what’s happening at the Broadview ICE facility and its impact on families and communities.

You’re very observant. When I took the photo of Curtis, I didn’t even see the sign on the ground. I just remember swinging my camera around and there he was, a quiet/solitary moment walking through gas in the middle of lots of conflict and noise.
