One thing I started noticing recently is that competent engineers give up their credibility due to AI.
Twice already highly competent engineers I respect sent a PR that turned out to have very subtle issues. These issues would not be possible if a human understood it.

so I was a judge at a student pitch contest the other day and many projects featured "ai-powered" products with obscure benefits. the winner was an affordable invisible fence for cows being already tested with idaho farmers. we're still more impressed by stuff that solve real problems than by hype.

visual studio 2026 has been released as just "visual studio". that's a significant change as it's always been branded with a year for every release since 2002. the year is still there on most UI elements, but it feels like microsoft is phasing it out.

- no apple tv app.
- therefore no remote player control.
- it supports downloads, but the app is designed to be online, so using it offline is pretty much impossible. especially a big issue on carplay.
