I think this is a key difference, Poch admitted we had to compromise the way we played on that day but still went back to what our philosophy is saying we might not be able to do it properly yet but we will. I think that ability to say this is where we are going is important early on.

I decided to go back and read match reports of the first NLD under each manager and this stood out on that point.

Lange and Paratici should be out, the processes that hired Frank and Nuno were led by them. Look at this one for Nuno. The problem here is we promoted Lange after Levy left and rehired Paratici as well.

My guess is this was a Lange led process as he wanted him at Villa.

We are putting up atrocious numbers the same xGDifference as the nadir of last season and worse from open play, worse than overall on xG, xGD, xPoints hell we are even worse defensively than we were when we had the cbs back fit, I just don’t see the foundations being built here, same as Nuno.

The problem here is not just the balance is completely wrong and we lack attacking intent and possession structure but the fact those things have hurt us defensively meaning despite a more defensive structure we have not improved defensively beyond the centre backs are now fit.

I remember looking at Forest players to figure out how much of MGW numbers were being surpassed by playing for Nuno. He stood out having lots of green bars, obviously he has taken a massive leap but if this our strategy not predicting this is a massive failure especially as he was 22 thus young.

Bentancur is capable of being more progressive in possession so some of this has to be instructions, because this is a sizeable drop off. He still isn't close to the guy we need but he is not this bad.

I want to know what analytics they used to determine he played attractive football feels very much like the second photo. If you want a manager to play elite club football hire one who plays it. It’s absurd to hire someone to do something entirely different to anything they have done before.

The numbers are just scarily bad, like we are actually a worse defensive side than when we had the defenders last season. Fbref and Opta analysts numbers are even worse than FotMob which were the ones doing the rounds. 17th on xG (fbref) 18th on open play (Opta analyst)
