This is why paying small creators and indie studios directly is so important. Pirating from a mass corporation won’t (or shouldn’t) result in the artists not being paid; everyone was already paid in advance. Self-published sellers don’t get that.

From what I have a basic understanding of, artists and creatives of most television shows are paid in full amount for their work regardless of its performance in the end, before the show even airs. Whereas book publishers are paid from royalties and rely on success for their income.
