Gaia has used its thrusters for the final time. The spacecraft is now drifting into its retirement orbit around the Sun and the team at ESA mission control have begun switching off its final systems to ensure that it will not reboot again in the future.

So a few days ago I took a photo of NGC 4151 with its neighbour NGC 4156. Turns out, there is a supernova in NGC 4156! SN 2025bvm isclassified as a Type Ia Supernova, i.e. a type of supernova that occurs in binary systems. Maybe somthing for you @mpoessel.de ? #Astronomy

The Cigar Galaxy - Messier M 82 - a starburst galaxy approximately 12 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. It is the second-largest member of the M81 Group. The starburst activity is thought to have been triggered by interaction with neighboring galaxy M81.
