My first foray into food chemicals -- which I'm learning is a busy, busy beat right now, especially at the state level

Aye, I know, but UK exit checks are a bit of a weird joke everywhere except the Eurostar because they do it through flight info, and I put my EU passport in the flight details for flying home. Really, the answer is to use the train

Been dealing with these calls today. They knew the amount of my last transaction and who it was to. Yes I hung up, but how have they got that data?

As a relatively new dual citizen I'm convinced I already made a mess of exiting the UK last month. Which passport? When? To whom?

Once you get dengue fever, you're at a much greater risk of severe disease if you ever get it again due to something called antibody dependent enhancement.

So why did I choose to purposely be infected with dengue?

Read my latest for @cenmag.bsky.social to find out. I'm quite proud of this one.

I became a test subject in a clinical trial for a new dengue treatment. Here’s what I discovered

For the past few months, for the @ftweekend.com essay, I’ve been digging deep into the phenomenon of premium restaurant brands going global: the risks, the benefits, the way almost all of them end up serving takes on the same ingredients.

Extremely bad news if true (and unlikely this reporter would run with it if not). The MMWR has been the earliest warning bell for outbreaks since it announced the first US cases, in 1981, of what was later identified as AIDS.

This will be a grievous shock to what remains of US public health.

BREAKING: Friday night massacre underway at CDC. Doznes of "disease detectives," high-level scientists, entire Washington staff and editors of the MMWR (Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report) have all been RIFed and received the following notice:

Today my @nytimes.com colleagues and I are launching a new series called Lost Science. We interview US scientists who can no longer discover something new about our world, thanks to this year‘s cuts. Here is my first interview with a scientist who studied bees and fires. Gift link: nyti.ms/3IWXbiE

Our current chancellor came up with this classic on Sunday TV this week: "Eine Wurst ist eine Wurst. Wurst ist nicht vegan."

Which is interesting because I had veganer Wurstaufschnitt on bread for my lunch today.

It's ridiculous. Apparently, we might get confused and buy veggie burgers thinking we're getting meat or something.
