Yea, as someone who’s just trying to get on the ladder at all it feels like no one wants to give me or my peers the time of day right now. the only viable path to making games professionally that seems to exist currently is going indie and praying you do enough sales to cover rent.

That’s true (I’m doing a jam on itch right now myself) but how much marketshare are these games really eating? A lot of them are at the hobbyist/building a portfolio level, which can absolutely create cool stuff, but also aren’t on the main stores like steam and tend to be finish-able in one sitting

I’d love to hear an explanation for why exactly he decided he needed to transcribe this guy’s tirade verbatim, but going off the information we have I really don’t think they’re his words. No lawyer even halfway worth the title would let their client perjure themself over something like this.

And then there’s just this constant stream of psychological warfare designed in a lab to make you think women having drivers licenses is the root of your problems. If I was in that position I can’t pretend I wouldn’t succumb.

I count myself lucky they didn’t have this shit down to a science yet when I was a teenager. Can’t even imagine being that age, you’re going through puberty and everything is confusing, struggling with social awkwardness (especially if you’ve got the tism like me) /1

People’s desire to play video games certainly isn’t going away, so someone has to make them. Forests regrow once the fire ends. I don’t mean to sound callous, but this whole debacle could also help relieve the overstaturation problem we’ve had for years. The survivors will have a less crowded field

Trying to have a discussion about this is not inherently saying other people experiences and mental health issues don’t matter or aren’t as bad (note I said inherently, I’m not contesting there are bad actors who do this). It sucks that we’ve allowed manosphere grifters to poison the well like this.

This is an “oh so you hate waffles?” Take. Men, women, and lgbtq+ people all face unique challenges because society treats them all differently. Men, for example, are often raised to believe they should bottle up their emotions and never make themselves vulnerable to anyone. /1

While I understand people’s problems with TGA I do want to push back on the idea that a game is somehow lesser or “bland” for getting nominated. Hades 2, blue prince, silksong, and others are all worthy of recognition and general audiences recognizing that should not be used as an indictment
