Yea, I guess I am thinking of actual scientists I know who are able to communicate well about their areas of study and not ... like ... infotainment types?? Which I guess is also called science communicating but has a totally different vibe.

Yes, the science communicators I know/know of are scientists in their own rights! They just happen to be good at using language that non-scientists can understand! Usually in ways that make the content interesting as well!

I absolutely rely on science communicators to explain these kinds of things to me in terms I can understand. I can read all the studies I like, but I know I'm not gaining the relevant info from them without some help.
