This was just me making this comparison yesterday, but today the Korean news is calling Minnesota "America's Gwangju" and have human rights lawyers explaining how America is now living through the dictatorship Korea once had.
The Chun regime that my wife fought against in the 80s did the exact same thing. They needed a "crisis" that "only they could solve" to hoard more ill-gotten power, so they chose one city (Gwangju), declared its inhabitants enemies, sent trucks full of soldiers to violently attack and kill them.

i used to think, Wow being a mom is your whole identity now? boring.
And now that it looks like that for me, I'm guessing it's like when you go through puberty & discover a band or sport or hobby & your biology is primed for it (obsessive caretaking or differentiation) so you're temporarily annoying

seems like the 90s was some golden era for psychological thrillers about an evil elite. what happened to these films? is it like the Twilight Zone depicting an MK Ultra style human experiment? too easy to see the twist coming & no longer passable as clever imagination; just life as we know it 😔
