Mostly posting music I'm listening to. Weighted towards heavy sounds. Open to recommendations. Love exploring and discovering new sounds.
Back home. On the train I listened to some more folk guided by Apple Musics recommendations. And fair play, this was a good album.

Kadavar have a spot on heavy, retro sound that I wish I liked a bit more. There new one is a good, not great, album. But if you want something old school, not a bad choice.

Headliner tonight - @afskyofficial.bsky.social

Felt a more storied and intimate black metal set.

Panzerfaust did not disappoint (other than having no vinyl for sale at the merch stand). Huge set. Going to be one of my highlights of the year.

My highlight today was the chance discovery of Jesus Hoop. An emotional and beautiful album. I don’t dip into alternative folk enough.

Having missed photos of 3 lovely beers I do have a photo of my distinctly average pre-gig beer. House Party by LERVIG. A little too clean and sharp an IPA for me.

Some music around today. Started with Ugly Ozo. Some form of dreamy gazey alt-pop. I like this.

On an emotional high from catching up with a friend I’ve not seen in 12 years and it not feeling like a moment has passed.

Sorry #bskybeer just had 3 fantastic beers at The Holy Tavern near Farringdon and didn’t take a single picture! But I will say the Sea Salt and Chilli Stout from Anspach & Hobday is exceptional. And the Plum Porter And Ruby Red Ale from St Peter’s Brewery co are also fantastic beers.

And now (I should mention I’m sharing these cans) a New England Pale Ale from Bristol Brewery. Bought for the pun but it tastes good.

Going to be honest, I bought this can expecting it to be odd and ultimately hard to drink. It’s a surprisingly nice sour beer. Feels like I’m drinking an innocent smoothy! Maple, Banana & Blueberry Pancakes Patty Sour from Yonder brewery.

Evening beers started with a DIPA. Buxton Brewery’s Wyoming Sheep Ranch. Strong with a nice hoppiness.

Played weird little ‘games’ at Novelty Automation that ended with me being poked in the groin or arse.

Recommended.

Visited the Tate for Picasso and a Beer. Came all the way to London just to drink Left Handed Giant. The fourth dancer DDH Hazy Pale, it’s nice and fruity.

Last night’s gig - Hanabie.

Merge metalcore with jpop and you end up here. Not my usual taste but I like this quirky mix.

Train beer. A can of Vienna IPA from Bristol Beer Factory. Not bad. A smooth, slightly sweet taste and I tend to prefer something punchier. But easy to drink.

Exciting and busy weekend ahead of me:

Visiting a friend in London. Celebrating his 50th. Catching a Japanese metal band. Meeting another friend I’ve not seen in twelve years. A black metal gig. And finally meeting a third friend I’ve not seen in a couple of years.

Sticking with the post- prefix I also played some Meniscus.

Fantastic drumming. I didn’t feel the sampled/synthesised speech added much to the couple of tracks that had it, but overall masterful post-rock.

This sat in a space that didn’t work for me. Too catchy and melodic in the end and I needed heavy and dark.

Bad? No, just not what I wanted. There was enough there to catch my interest but couldn’t seal the deal.
