They were fantastic. I like Guiltless, but I was there for Wren.

Not listened to Daever in a while, but this one popped up in my recommendations this morning.

Man they're good. The vocals are perfection and their riffs rock solid. I think I need to binge their other albums again.

And Empire of Dust’s heavy doom opened the night.

And a relatively clear moment in the beautifully noisy Wren set.

Headline act from last night - Guiltless. Delivered a doomy/sludgy set. I like their vocals which sit in the background.

After the ridiculously sweet pastry stout I had before this was a much more balanced affair. A hint of sweetness, but a longer bitterness.

I came for Wren and they didn’t disappoint me. Spectacular set. Aided by all the pedals.

Great lighting choice too.

My final beer tonight. Another stout. We’ve got bitter, coffee tones here. Less sweetness. A Place of Our Own from Ideal Day. Not something I could drink a lot of but good flavours.

Tonight opened with local Doom band Empire of Dust. Ashamed to say I’ve never heard them but they are good. Also their drummer swapped places with me watching Wren when he realised he was blocking my view -bonus points.

So the Basque Cheesecake from Yonder is an experience. I’ve definitely lost some of my taste for these Imperial types. Intensely sweet.

Online set times all wrong - 45 minute wait till the first band. Fortunately the venue is the Gryphon which means great beer.

Here’s my poorly lit (now half) pint of Vivid Glow from Floc. It’s a nice, refreshing pale ale.

There’s a pastry stout I’ll be trying before band two.

This was an interesting one. Tagged Industrial, drone, experimental and post-punk. And there’s bits of them all in there.

I liked. Constantly invoked memories of music from my past though I’m unable to pin it down.

Put on some new metalcore this morning: Perfect Death from Catsclaw.

It’s ok. Enjoyed the first half more than the second. Had a harder edge and felt a bit more industrial.

Mass of the Fermenting Dregs were a lot of fun last night. They clearly love being on tour and it shows in their live performance.

Second act: Waldo’s Gift. An Arctangent band I missed for a clash. They’re local and very good. Impressive improvisation and live skills.

(My other criticism is one of the guitarists looks like the prick my first girlfriend left me for almost 30 years ago. He was a guitarist in a band too.)

First up tonight is Sunspot. All local bands in support. Second time I’ve seen them. My main criticism remains the level of effects used on vocals. Otherwise I quite like them.
