Mostly posting music I'm listening to. Weighted towards heavy sounds. Open to recommendations. Love exploring and discovering new sounds.
Over compensated for my lack of Amen Ra experience. Starting with Mass VI.

Not sure how I’ve not heard Amen Ra before because this is exactly the kind of black/post metal I like. Can also add to the category of bands I’ve discovered shortly after they gig locally. #metalsky #blackmetal #postmetal

Got a bit more shoegaze in today.

New EP from a promising band. Definitely got the dream-pop, noisier shoegaze sound that I like. Creates a really big sound, with solid bass lines and drums behind it.

It's a black metal day, and this is a great way to start it. I love occultism/spiritualism themes in my black metal and this is rich with them. Another band to dive into.

And got home to the sound of Panchiko. Finding out if they stretch beyond a resurrected 25-year-old curiosity with more recent music (although much of it started 20+ years ago). Mostly they do, only wavering when they stray from a glitchier, trippy sound.

The unexpected (musical) highlight of the trip was JJJJJerome Ellis and this sparse, experimental piece of jazz. Perfect for night time driving. Now needs to be heard on a proper sound system without background road buzz.

Started the return journey with a recent favourite from Just Mustard. Love this noisy, shoegazey album. Ethereal vocals, noisy fuzz, tight drums. Perfect. Seeing them live in Bristol next year.

Final album on the outbound journey was a winner. Odonis Odonis gives us a good blend of post-punk and synth pop with fantastic work on the drums. Distraction is a highlight track for me.

Shifted to a more shoegaze/alt-rock/post-punk setup for much of the rest of the journey. I found Double Scoop to be an easy listen, quite catchy, the sort of music I'd enjoy at a gig, but also not something I felt a connection with. Enjoyed and then moved on.

Started out with some interesting alt pop. Beautiful vocals, that's probably the biggest hook here. Strongest when pared back and focused on vocals, weakest a couple of tracks that lean hard into pop.

Family road trip yesterday, which means I listened to a lot of new music while driving (but also chose genres that my wife would find acceptable). So 6 albums mixing pop, post-punk and some jazz - list to follow...

I spend so much time listening to new music that Apple Music’s replay mainly reflects the length of a band’s album! Some definite favourites in here though. #musicsky

Been on an #Arctangent line-up binge today. Started with SikTh and an album that divided me. I think I like it, but I'm not completely sure. At least until the live tracks on the deluxe version. They sounded great live. So, I'm in for the festival at least.
