For this study I fractionated soils from 6 vegetation cover types at 5 depth increments (0-100 cm). The final paper only includes 2 cover types and 1 depth, but all of the data are stored on #EDI

I hope someone can use this data in future meta analyses!

Analysis of the MAOM fraction with pyrolysis GC/MS showed a decrease in soil organic compound diversity under eCO2 in soils beneath large shrubs. The organic matter in these soils becomes more similar to interspace (un vegetated) soils and may show a degradation in islands of fertility.

From 13C stable isotope analysis we found that MAOM is an actively cycling pool under eCO2, with newly fixed C incorporated into this "slow" cycling pool. This difference in C cycling between arid and temperate ecosystems may help to explain responses to CO2 disturbance at Mojave FACE.
