At this point I think I may be one of an incredibly small number of people to have read the second Sullivan report in detail. It is uniformly poor scholarship, containing flagrant fabrications and misrepresentations, calling into question Alice Sullivan's ability to conduct basic academic research

April was within a whisker of the hottest April ever (last year)—touching on 1.5°C above the 1850-1900 average.

With 2023/24’s temporary extra warming from El Niño long gone, each month this persists adds weight to the persuasive theory that warming has accelerated.

🚨This needs our full attention🚨
April 2025 Temperature Update - Berkeley Earth
March 2025 tied 2024 and 2016 for the warmest March on record. 2025 has a 34% chance to be a record warm. The brief La Niña has ended.

This was just posted by @tbretc.bsky.social on another platform. The Chicago Sun-Times obviously gets ChatGPT to write a ‘summer reads’ feature almost entirely made up of real authors but completely fake books. What are we coming to?

Some people say that if you publish your research in a diamond open access journal it won't have "impact" 🙄

Yet here's me and my family watching a 60-minute BBC documentary all somewhat spawned by this paper published in Cadernos de Saúde Pública in 2009. Over 1200 citations too […]

in a pure market economy where citation conuts are part of your image, it makes perfect sense to budget cut away research fields that do not get a lot of citations

I welcome a new academic age where we stop this thinking

Scientists, academics, researchers: We’re excited to share that @altmetric.com is now tracking mentions of your research on Bluesky! 🧪
There are already many articles for which there is more attention on Bluesky than on other comparable micro-blogging sites, meaning the academic community and the general public have clearly adopted Bluesky as one of its core places to disseminate and discuss new research.

A Place of Joy.

In a guest @WebSciDL post, Herbert Van de Sompel discusses the recent move to register "doi:" as a URI scheme with IANA.

TL;DR: It's likely more about branding than actual utility.
