Umm... not airports, but UK railway stations

(I mean, come on, you can't beat "Rail Alphabet".
And "Calvert", the font designed by Margaret Calvert specifically for use on the Tyne and Wear Metro is an absolute timeless design and still looks fantastic after 45 years)

Guess I'm a wrong'un then...

Checking out the route of the M50 on Google Maps just now and I happened to spot this village just off junction 1

I wonder if it's twinned with somewhere like "Gisakis"

10 years today our niece Isabelle died, after just 8 days.

Seems like an absolute age ago, and yet at the same time hardly more than 5 minutes ago.

Off to the cathedral later with my Mum to light a candle.

Sleep well, little one. Uncle Nath and Kit love you and will never forget you ♥️

And that's us back in L26 after a glorious weekend of quizzing.

Yes, it's a bloody long and tiring day, but one I always look forward to in the quizzing calendar.

Hat tips of apprecization to all the wonderful OQL bods who work so hard to make it a brilliant event.

Good morning from ATV-land.
The day is finally upon us... It's time for the 2025 OQL buzzer quiz tournament.

I'll be using #Snathequiz again throughout the day for all the score updates, so feel free to follow along and cheer us on, to see if we manage to claim the saucer for a second time!

Important cat news. More of this on Bluesky, please and indeed thank you.
Walter de Staplecat, Simpkin IV, Teabag, Balthasar and Benny D Cat take the stage as we meet the college cats of Oxford. And, of course, Magdalen’s Ozymandias. Read on for our photo special. (Includes a cat map.) oxfordclarion.uk/college-cats...
College cats of Oxford
Once upon a time, we featured an image of Magdalen's kitten, Ozymandias, in our newsletter. We figured it might be a gentle contrast to our regular diet of planning and local politics. The grey ball ...

There was an AI from Nantucket,
Which made AI slop by the bucket,
But if you typed in a rhyme,
It worked every time,
That the AI gave up, and said ‘fuck it!’

I can't help but feel there's a hard core of people on here who would actually be pleased that I'm now unemployed if they found out that I may have dabbled in a bit of occasional Github Copilot use in order to try and understand certain bits of code, because I felt I had no other choice.

Today's moment of joy:
Getting a telephone in the post (a GPO 706 model) and discovering that behind the dial label which shows the phone originally being connected to 01-660 xxxx (a number in Putney, SW London), there was an earlier dial label with the original exchange name of "UPLANDS xxxx".

It's the 321st day of the year today, so in celebration of this, here's the time that Ted Rogers opened the original version of the show "Uno, Dos, Tres" on Spanish TV, using the English 321 titles including the Yorkshire TV Ident zooming into Dusty Bin.

In case you're wondering how my first day of unemployment is going, I'm sat here laughing at the idea that Elvis Presley could have, potentially, been on the first series of Swap Shop, as a special guest on the Swaporama OB with Cheggers, from a playing field in a rain-soaked Wellingborough...

It’s the same thing as the terfery really: it’s just being an arsehole and a busybody, seething at people who are just quietly going about their business without harming or bothering anyone.
