A lot of ppl's perplexity regarding recent historical turns has to do w/them seeing the post-WWII era (& US's role therein) as a historical norm rather than exception. The US has strong laurels to chill-upon, but they're diminishing -- can quibble about the rate of decline & lvl of concern warranted

I love toying around w/coding/programming/etc. -- but one of my conspiracy-minded ideas is that this stuff can act as a kinda neurosis pump & is thus dangerous (for a lot of folks) to lean too far into.

OG political strategists/operatives/pundits/etc. really are too risk-averse & stick to old playbooks. They make decisions based on mutual exclusivities & coherencies that are increasingly undermined -- they are lucky that their risk-prone opposition often overestimate such change.

There are so many varieties of criticism of AI that are often bundled together in a confused way that can be hard to disentangle, but I think there are two salient types of epistemic criticism w/one being highly-warranted and the other not:

there seems to be a subtle class/education gap baked into certain iOS vs. Android features: e.g. Android's auto-correct just assumes there are certain big words the user surely didn't mean to use.
