A thing I've not done in a long long time -- pump gas.

In this case into a hardtop convertible, a guilty pleasure on this sunny day in Tennessee. And yes the environmentalist and EV driver (normally) is gonna put the top down.

Forgive me!

Lithium ion batteries have changed the game.

Used to be I'd pick up tire-threatening nails at intersections. Now I pick up 3-inch screws. Carpenters frame a house with their cordless drills.

What a big-assed leaf. That sucker must've measured 18 inches across.

Compare it to the "normal" leaves littering the ground -- sweet gums mostly.

This ain't unusual. Well, or maybe it is for Middle Tennessee.

Anyway a chill factor of 15 deg F and it did not seem to rise very much all day long.

I was out in it off-and-on most of the day, starting with a 6-mi trudge, and I lost one hand warmer early on.

For supper: Dinty Moore stew and Cold Duck wine.

Don't tell me I don't know how to live!

Two long-time letter writers, a Tennessee cowboy and a sometimes runner, meet for the first time and find common cause -- prolly cause we were in a "very small "whacked-out" crowd.

Never had a restaurant write me a thank-you note for dining there before.

I can endorse the Iberian Pig, in case you find yourself in Nashville anytime soon.

Our table at Rudy's Jazz Room was disappointing. i had ticket for table of four. Those tables were at the back of a narrow room, the farthest away, so our view was poor. I'd looked forward to seeing Kandace Springs. I walked forward and held the phone up high to get even this (poor) image.

The Iberian Pig, Nashville, was good, assuming you like adventure, and I do. We had:

Queso manchego
Pulpa (octopus)
Pan con tomate
Paella

and a beer called Bearded Iris (local brew). So now I know some things to order at a Spanish restaurant!

Hot Dog!

That woman came in. I'll hear some of her songs before her live show at Rudy's.

Cold Duck Time!

It's a party wine.
It's a wine for people who don't drink wins.
It's also a jazz standard by Eddie Harris.
Drink up!

Bought two tickets to this show, an opera. I expect awesome, befitting the Pulitzer winner.

Saw Nashville Ballet's Carmina Burana in the same room. It remains most spectacular show ever! Just across street from where I once sat designing hwy bridges.

Nashville production values are world class.

In normal weekly driving I only travel about 200 mi. So one charge a week will more than cover that for the Ioniq 5.

For the gas burners I always preferred to drive on the top half of the tank. I now apply that idea to the EV, and charge twice a week. It is so easy to do, after all.
