“Right now is one of the hardest moments in our history. Right now, Ukraine is under some of the heaviest pressure yet. Right now, Ukraine may find itself facing a very tough choice. Either the loss of our dignity or the risk of losing a key partner.”

I do too
I understand the attacks on DEI as sheer racism, misogyny, transphobia, and especially misogynoir

But also DEI was a really wack framework and I'm not gonna be like "it was so good and we need it"

Historically, DEI was a stepping stone on the journey to the current civil rights framework collapse

Show us what trans power looks like, fight back!
19 Nov 2025 -- 213 Dems incl. Sarah McBride (D-DE) (top signatory) send letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson demanding he condemn Rep lawmakers for repeatedly “demonizing & dehumanizing” trans people. First sign of organized pushback against Trump big anti-trans crusade. @rikiwilchins.bsky.social
House Dems unite to tell GOP to stop "demonizing" trans people with "dehumanizing" slurs - LGBTQ Nation
Rep. Nancy Mace's "tra**y, tra**y, tra**y!" tirade is just one example.

We were watching, listening to, and reading Alice in class today. The 4-hour seminar was not enough, we’ll continue next week.

Honoring Alice Wong's life and legacy with gratitude, in solidarity and sorrow, this morning. I was a fan; thinking of all who loved and knew her personally.

Alice's words speak to us still. As a chronically ill person, I will keep listening. What a beautiful, bold, *brilliant* life well lived.

Last night about a dozen of us at NWSA gathered in Alice’s memory & it was good to be in community—to remember her as the sassy perverted bad bitch she was. Seeing the many posts about her makes her death all too real, but seeing how loved, respected & valued she was by so many has helped my heart.

I’d totally read this
For the drugs portion of the sex, drugs and rock n’ roll theme, this 1974 psychedelic anthology looks like a pastel fantasy, exactly the kind of book a 10yo sticker collector would pluck from mom & dad’s bookshelf in 1984. Amirite?

This is such a beautiful 🧵

“Disability ancestors aren’t gone; they accompany us. In our organizing, in mutual aid, in the awkward joy of surviving another day that wasn’t designed for us. They’re in every access met, every gentle reminder to slow down, every firm refusal to abandon one another.”
Alice Wong taught us that disabled people don’t just leave memories behind—they leave infrastructure. Lineages of care. Methods of collectivity, survival. She named the connective tissue that holds our communities together, even across death, even across the losses that come too fast and too often.

Imho Pluribus gives off a strong Langoliers vibe with a Stepford Wives aesthetics, but I’m still waiting to see if it lives up to the promise.
Pluribus is so good?? It’s like if the X-Files and The Good Place had an extremely upsetting but darkly funny baby

I assigned Alice’s Disability Visibility podcast on film festivals (episode 76 from 2020) for next week. I think I’m going to open class with screening her Human Resources episode Pity Party (S1E8 from 2023). We’ll sit with her words and the world she envisioned.
Activist, author, artist, voice actress, and path blazer Alice Wong has passed. She still thought of gracing us with some words of hope for the future she dreamed for us:

“I'm honored to be your ancestor and believe disabled oracles like us will light the way to the future.”

Alice Wong was one of the most effective people challenging the Whiteness of disability communities and its many flaws, but who believed fiercely in us as a community, in disabled people as oracles.

Alice brought so much to so many of us, it’s hard to measure the kind of gratitude I have for that.

The only way to deal with this regime is to fight back. Anything else is capitulation. This injunction was won by faculty and staff orgs and unions, not by any UC leader in Oakland or at a campus level.
