I’m a writer. I love to laugh. I’m artistic, inquisitive, and irrepressible. Irreverent at times. If I wasn’t a writer, I’d pretend to be one.
That’s…slightly messed up.
As of 12/24/25, USPS changed policy on when they postmark mail. Mail dropped off is no longer guaranteed a same-day postmark. Tax returns & other time-sensitive items are now stamped when they reach a regional processing center, which may be days later. Plan deadlines accordingly to avoid penalties.

It is hard to overstate how critical @ncar-ucar.bsky.social is to climate science in the US and around the world. It's the beating heart of our field. Generations of scientists have trained there, and almost everyone I know relies on deep collaborations with NCAR scientists. It's end is unthinkable.
Exclusive: The Trump administration is moving to dismantle the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Colorado, according to a senior White House official, taking aim at one of the world's leading climate research labs.

Dismantling our scientific infrastructure is counter to everything this nation once stood for: innovation, a spirit of inquiry, a belief that applied knowledge advances humanity, and is central to preserving our existence on this planet. Apparently none of that matters anymore. It’s all about $. 1/2
As someone not with NCAR, I use NCAR-based software everyday to help identify and track regions of excessive precipitation to help NWS forecasters protect lives and property. NCAR is extremely valuable and we need them.

A weekend of violent acts that fracture our faith in humanity. And yet. We wake up, lead with kindness and compassion for others and try our best to live out our all-too-brief time on this planet with intention and humility. Some days are easier than others, but if we stand together, we are strong.❤️

Focus might be on 8 Senate Dems, but do not forget that Hakeem Jeffries held the House, all 212 House Democrats!
The very House that will have to *open* to pass the CR and simultaneously sign the Epstein files into existence.

Good morning. ☕️✨
Just pointing out that Hakeem Jeffries got TWO HUNDRED AND TWELVE House Democrats to hold the line.

Not one House Democrat cracked.

Not one House Democrat caved.

I’m going to remember that.

Well Prof. Super is a true expert on this stuff, so you can trust this. Governors need to fight.
I asked Georgetown law prof David Super wtf is going on with this latest demand for states to claw back benefits already sent out.
He says the law doesn't allow for this, and if the USDA is mad that states already sent out SNAP money, too bad—they were following USDA's own guidance. Full comments:

In the days to come, lean into your empathetic self and support neighbors who need a hand and organizations on the front line.

We’ll get through this, together.

As for the“ballroom blitz” crowd and their mad king? Don’t hold your breath. Empathy is not in their DNA.

Preach
Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
