Avi Lewis imho the only one on the stage with very clear solutions to the affordability crisis: public options for housing, telecom, groceries, and a green new deal @avilewis.ca

The meetups today are part of a larger tour that Emily Lowan is doing across BC. I was happy to hear that people across the province are waking up to the idea that the barrier to affordability and ensuring a liveable planet is the record concentration of wealth and power at the top.

I don't think it's an either/or and the Centre is a catalyst for redesigning Seymour St

"“But what about the cold?” you’re thinking. The good news is that cold temperatures often improve solar panel energy output, sometimes even above their rated efficiency. In fact, colder temperatures may actually increase panel efficiency."

Thank you for this update-oriented update

RadPower's product page for the Safe Shield battery says "Safe Shield batteries are compatible only with our updated Rad charger (sold separately). Warning: Do not use with older Rad Power Bikes chargers or any third-party or aftermarket chargers."

That's almost half the cost of the whole bike!

My partner's barely used RadRunner is affected and it will cost about $650 CAD after shipping and tax to replace the battery and charger even with the sale. Really bad.

Once again I call on #Kamloops city council to commit to dedicated funding for a quick-build, protected cycling network between all Transit Oriented Development Areas/Town Centres in KAMPLAN to create a backbone of a city-wide AT network.

If a city waits until all the new residents move in and need a car and street parking it will be much harder to reallocate that public street space for a protected, connected AT network.

The percentage of households in Victoria that do not own a car is also growing rapidly, 25% across the city and 41% downtown are car-free. The time to build a protected, connected AT network is BEFORE a city experiences growth so new residents can choose to be car free.

Ridership exploded in Victoria only when there was a protected, connected network of bike lanes where people could safely ride to their destination.

What changed in Victoria? They elected a mayor in 2014 (Lisa Helps) that implemented a protected, connected bicycle network and traffic calming on shared streets that increased ridership massively year over year. Importantly, this included protected bike lanes on major streets and through downtown.

For comparision, as of 2021 (the most recent census data available), 0.9% of commuting trips in Kamloops are made by cycling.

Canada is behind *Utah* in balcony solar... how embarrassing. More states are legalizing balcony solar soon
Good news! Small solar-panel kits that can be assembled as easily as an Ikea bookcase and plugged into a regular residential outlet could be coming soon to New Hampshire and Vermont.

From our friends at @canarymedia.com:
New Hampshire and Vermont could be next to introduce "balcony solar"
Cheap, plug-in systems that reduce people's bills without red tape are piquing bipartisan interest.

Very important factor in the high adoption rate of balcony solar in Germany is not only that they don't requires a utility interconnect agreement - you also don't need permission from your landlord to install it
