afaict, our limited rolling stock and deal with Amtk maybe makes running Asheville-SAL-RGH less feasible. they'll likely run Ashville-SAL-CLT anyway if the plan lines up with CLT being expanded+moved downtown. +with the long winding route west of SAL a trip to Ashville will already take really long

scenics: ignoring the obvious foamer stuff, it's quite a unique experience going *under* a skyline instead of over or around it! from Philly to Petersburg the tracks cross many different lakes and rivers on relatively slow bridges, and many segments are built on shorelines. it even goes by Quantico!

well our passenger rolling stock is slowly becoming Siemens and Alstom units. you can talk about the reliability of the Chargers or the comfortability of the Venture cars but the conversation almost always end up being about our lack of quality infrastructure.

we *must* extend the NEC down past DC, though. even barring electrification, the Chargers and Airos that will soon be operating on that route are fully capable of safely going above 70mph. we need better quality tracks. we need more throughput.

your post is reminiscent of when an LLM forgets its token limit and just keeps going

other fun statistics: it's only been descaled 11 times and made 212 hot cups of water. all it needed was another descale, thorough cleaning, and a new infuser (they still make them for this over-decade-old model!)

I can get why, but it just looks so different from most other trains in Japan, not to mention the world. to me it looks very futuristic and is what I think of when I hear "train in Tokyo"

wow, I didn't know they've been out for that long. the design was truly ahead of its time!

honestly I have started to feel the same but my cope is that the skills it takes to learn a language (especially smth like JS with all its quirks and gotchas) is transferable to a bunch of other things even beyond langs
