The last spot Apple showed it was a few blocks from where it was stolen. Never turned on again. The messages always said it was in Barcelona. It was well organised back then. I expect the organised crime gangs have only “improved” since then. Back then the phishing sites were pretty poor quality.

I put my number & email. Several times a day I’d get a message “Apple has located your phone.” message with a link. They were all short urls linking to phishing sites “Log in with your Apple ID to see the location”. Always a different source phone number. I ended up remote wiping it. Insurance paid

Not just “now”. This has been happening for over a decade. I was constantly spammed when I had my phone stolen in Barcelona in 2015.

A better plan would be to turn the close the racecourse. Turn it into medium and high density housing development. You could then run a normal train service on the line.
