I genuinely can’t think of a book I’ve read that I didn’t enjoy even a little (even if that enjoyment was largely ironic), so I’m either lucky and only pick up things that suit my taste in SOME manner or have extremely low standards when it comes to books

I periodically get the urge to rebrand to my cartoon persona instead of my real human face, but I’ve used the same profile photo since 2021 or smth, and I tend to resist change

Why is my first impulse to say none of them? 💀💀💀💀

Even my characters that give reasonably good advice (like Night & Daniel) tend to give advice that they don’t personally follow. Very do as I say, not as I do; and I’m not sure how to feel about that. I’d probably be better off asking Reddit. 😭

When it comes to formatting my epilogue novella, should I make the paperback interior the same as the main series (optimized to reduce page count & print cost) or shake things up & give the text a bit more room to breathe (so it looks less like a brochure in comparison to the chunky main series 💀)?

I’m usually a slow writer, so I set aside November & December for drafting. My WIP was half-written to begin with & only needed 20-25k more words. Well, it’s now looking like I’ll finish before the end of November AND it should be a proper novella length. 🥳

Out of Sidetracked’s main & supporting cast, Night is probably the closest to being famous. She holds a public & fairly important position within her parents’ ecotech company and has definitely done multiple TV/online/magazine interviews & attended red carpet events or whatever.

I finally made a move. He said he likes me, and I kissed him, but... Oh, god. I screwed up. Stumbling backward, I cover my mouth with my hands. "I'm sorry," I gasp. "I— I don't know why I did that just now. I'm, uh...” He averts his eyes and presses a couple fingers to his lips. Both his posture and expression are unreadable. Neutral. Blank, almost. Until he takes a deep, even breath and regains his composure. As he meets my gaze, he clears his throat. "It's okay," he says. "It was nothing, right?" Nothing? This was clearly a mistake.

He was always weird with boundaries. Inconsistent, friendly one moment and standoffish the next. Acted like he knew what everyone around him was thinking. Said—and did—the most insane shit just to see how you'd react. He always liked pushing buttons, seeing what he could get away with. Feeling in control." A control freak, huh? Can you blame him? You remember how good it felt to be in control—to finally watch Ice squirm—after spending weeks wallowing in helplessness. It wasn't...really a good feeling.

atm, I do most of my writing at my wife’s sketch-ass hobbled together PC desk bc my laptop has been acting up, but I’ve also been attending weekly write-ins at a local queer advocacy center. I think getting out of the house helps reduce distractions, but I only have weekends free.

The main series takes place during summer, but most of the Sidetracked characters are college age.

Jayde, Rose, & Night (+ a few other side characters) go to a local community college (Riverview Community College). Ice is a student at Stanford University.
