The administration said it received too much public and legal backlash for firing employees who did nothing wrong, so if their performance “declines,” fewer people will defend them.

The demand the United States has for Venezuela is to surrender their oil, land, and other resources. So far the US isn't risking an actual land invasion and will seemingly push a blockade and continue its illegal strikes.
