PS I think if they had given him the flagrant, which is probably what should’ve happened (at least at first) he might’ve been ejected after the Caruso foul, but still…

I think it needs to be both. You have to have some ideas of what to fall back on in the clutch and need a PG to execute it. Right now it’s neither.

The lack of a true PG seems to be a bigger problem than I thought it would. Ant / Julius / DDV just don’t have “it” for end of game execution, and Mike has lost too many steps, unfortunately.
It’s not that they’re getting bad looks in the last 3 minutes - they’re barely getting looks at all.

The discrepancy between what they call for bigs / guards for contact to the head (and in general) has been an issue since Dwight Howard was in Orlando. There should be way more to protect guys like Rudy.
But you can’t clear a guy out from the air (anymore). It’s a player safety thing.

The (lack of) call on Phee was wrong, but Rudy didn’t touch the ball. You can’t deck people in the head, especially not while they’re in the air. I’m not mad at Rudy for going for it, but it’s a flagrant 1 easy imo

They CAN call a flagrant, but they have to review it, which they did…to say it wasn’t a flagrant…which makes the ghost tech egregious.
I bet they say he said something after the fact to cover their asses but you think the ref would’ve said that on the announcement at the time if it were true
